(a) For the purposes of this subchapter, (1) Has been nominated by a major party for election to the office of President of the United States or the office of Vice President of the United States; or (2) Has qualified or consented to have his or her name appear on the general election ballot (or to have the names of electors pledged to him or her on such ballot) as the candidate of a political (b) An individual who is no longer actively conducting campaigns in more than one State pursuant to 11 CFR 9004.8 shall cease to be a candidate for the purpose of this subchapter.
